Developing psychological wellbeing and growth through person-centred counselling, supervision, research & consultancy.
Susan Stephen PhD COSCA (Accred.) has been in practice as a person-centred counsellor since 2003, a supervisor since 2008, and a trainer since 2013. She completed her PhD in Counselling at the University of Strathclyde in 2020. She has developed a particular interest in the impact of loss and change in our lives, and our natural resourcefulness that is fostered through person-centred therapy.
“I am committed to working with each person in an empathic, respectful and collaborative way that enables you to develop your capacity to grow and thrive within the unique circumstances of your life, relationships and work.”
Person-Centred Therapy is a humanistic approach to counselling, first developed by Carl Rogers (1902-1987) and since elaborated by many committed practitioners and researchers working throughout the world who share the philosophical assumptions, values and principles underpinning the approach: in summary, that everyone has an inate tendency to develop and grow in a constructive direction when nurtured within a non-directive relationship in which the person feels understood, accepted and respected. “Non-directive therapy is not passive but actively follows the client, closely, carefully, creatively.” Stephen Joseph
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” Carl Rogers
