The Person Centred Approach

Person-Centred Therapy is a humanistic approach to counselling, first developed by Carl Rogers (1902-1987) and since elaborated by many committed practitioners and researchers working throughout the world who share the philosophical assumptions, values and principles underpinning the approach: in summary, that everyone has a natural tendency to develop and grow in a constructive direction when nurtured within a non-directive relationship in which the person feels understood, accepted and respected. “Non-directive therapy is not passive but actively follows the client, closely, carefully, creatively.” Stephen Joseph

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” Carl Rogers

Beneath the solar rays
Above the diamond sea
I’m stretching out
From where I am
To where I want to be
I’m just a flight away
I’m just a changing seed
Stretching out
With every particle
Inside of me.
